Hi, still is the process of separating fake and genuines. I have so much difficulties with this, it is terrible as a starting point. So could you tell me what you think of this one ? Thanks again and again

A very rare and desirable type. Probably fake - it certainly looks quite new. any sign of a seam? Perhaps check the fake report.

Looks like the 'real' deal. Impossible to tell for sure without expert in hand evaluation. From photo I see nothing to say fake. But I do not collect silver for the very reason that I can be easily fooled by a good fake.

Doesn't look right to me. It's really round, nearly perfectly so. The engraving style doesn't look right to me. I have my doubts.
You might want to ask a specialist about this coin.

Well, heres the ID. I'm going to check the fake report for matching inscriptions. http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/imp/...RSC_0046.txt Indeed, the fake reports indicate that these are commonly faked. Lookign at the examples it seems all the fakes come from one master die in which all the whip like things behind curve smoothly and the cow faces downwards. Yours is crooked and the bull looks up. Looking pretty good! The end of the whip thing is also cantilever - the fakes all have a dot at the end. Yours matches none on the FORVM fakes page. Thats all well and good but you need it authenticated - its a pretty high calibre coin, a Caesar portrait. There is still the possibility of it being a reproduction - especially with the flan as it is. I would not be happy to say its real till an expert has seen it in hand.

Ben,
the 'whip thing' is a Lituus....augurs ceremonial wand or staff.

Difficult to say for sure from the image, but it looks OK to me. You should have it checked by an expert to be 100%.

Happy to hear that.
Now a new problem starts for me (learning curve again). Where or how to find some reliable expert ? I guess sending a poor quality picture like this would not be sufficient of course.
What is a normal cost for this kind of expertise ? Is that reasonable compared to the potential value of that coin (which I have no idea of) ?

If its real it could be worth big $ to the right person. Perhaps for auction.
Im unaware of any real experts in paris, but if it goes anywhere near what that wildwinds example did, then it would definitely be worth it.

Thanks So I'll try to get some expertise on it. What would you recommend : larger companies like PCGS or more individuals like David Sear (these are just 2 names I found that seem pretty well known) ? I don't really know between lbusinesses and a more individual approach from someone who seems passionate

Paris is one of the 'Great' cities of the world and renowned for learning and scholarship. It seems absurd to not have someone nearby who could give expert opinion on this coin ! I would check with some local coin shops (I am sure there must be a few in a city the size of Paris !) They should be able to direct you to the right people.

Paris is actually pretty small (I like the place but you can walk from one side to the other, I come from London so I guess its comparative)
If you browse Vcoins by country France has dealers, maybe they also have physical property but in any case I would suggest contacting them if they are near to you.
