Many times you can get a Columbian at a show for basically the price of silver + a dollar or two.

The coin as you described is a very common USA silver commemorative half dollar ... over 1.5 million were distributed with the 1893 date and many (most) of them are readily available today at some level of circulation wear.

Assuming you used the term 'fine shape' as a method to describe numismatic grade ... your coin is worth bullion value based on the silver content.

Your coin as minted in 1893 met the statutory requirements of 12.5 grams weight with a silver content of 90% ... so it contained (new) 0.397 ounces of silver.

At today's (3/18) spot price for silver of $28.77/oz ... you coin is worth $11.42. Most dealers will pay you less ... current dealer buying price on circulated USA 90% silver is 19x face value ... sooo ... value in that market is $9.50

A photo would help us to help you ... the same coin in MS64 is worth a hefty numismatic premium.
