It's a ploy. Appear completely unknowledgeable about coins so that people will think you're not smart enough to pull the valuable coins from the roll --> higher bids.

Well, I'll admit this, it sure made me ask what type of wrapper that is...did they EVER come with shiney aluminum foil that looks like it is from a stick of chewing gum?

Maybe that's to protect the highly valueable coins from the blow-torch he uses on the masking tape!

He probably did scorch the tape to make it look older. I can't believe anyone would pay that much for a roll you could buy for $5.

These are the first shotgun rolls I've seen that really look like they've been fired! It sounds like a good many buyers have been burned by these half-baked offerings.

Aluminum foil wrapped in scorched masking tape. The secret to making a killing on ebay ! I don't know whether to be proud of the guy for finding a way to make money or laugh at the fools who pay that much for it. I'm gonna think on it though,  Done thinking, buyer beware ! Enough said.  |
