I'm sorry if I bothered any of you guys, but history means money, here is my reason I bought that #20000 last penny roll ! #20000 roll is the only absolute LAST penny roll legally in private hands ! Rare 'Double Eagle' 1933 coin worth $7.6 MILLION goes on show in UK for first time - Only 13 of the $20 coins are known to exist today - Only one coin is legally in private hands http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...UK-time.html Unique ancient coin 1813 Australian 'Holey Dollar' fetches $425,000 http://www.bornrich.com/unique-anci...-425000.html

You don't owe anyone an explanation for anything. I'm glad you got what you wanted. It was pricy but worth it to you or you wouldn't have done it. Do you have other coins in your collection or was this all you were after?

Well, I did not expect that answer... or a comparison to true numismatic rarities... Numismatics does not necessarily work that way - your matrix is different from reality. Rarity, or uniqueness, and grade means money... the 1911 Pattern silver dollar, the 1908 RCM brass trial strike, the 1937 Paris Mint brass patterns, the 1967 25-cent pattern (Canada's last pattern piece) struck on a nickel planchet, are examples of history and rarity that command decent money. You bought 50 identical coins, of a batch of 1 million coins. You paid a monster premium for a holographic sticker on a special wrapper... there is no way that roll will ever be worth anywhere near what the last 1-cent struck that is residing in the Bank of Canada Museum, or the examples listed above...

^ Except the examples you show above are of actual rare coins and not just 50 of several million others in existence.
The last cent ever struck, if it were in private hands and could be validated, may command significant dollars some time in the future.
Still a very cool item and conversation piece and I don't begrudge your purchase of it at all - just not in the same league as other rarities.

hey spp. You have no idea what the value of this roll will be in 20 years. No one does. So stop pretending you do.

Who is pretending? I have a pretty good idea, based on the last 150 years of Canadian rarities, and history is always a good proxy when it comes to Canadian numismatics. Heck, some of the Victorian pattern pieces (most with mintages of 5 or less) can be purchased for $6600... which do you think is historically more relevant? If it was your money, which would you choose?
Yunbo, I actually thought this item was bought for its uniqueness, and for your pleasure - in which case, value would be irrelevant. Clearly, I was mistaken, and I think at this point, we can only agree to disagree on investment potential... good luck with your unique holographic sticker... only time will tell...

Yunbo Are those your first purchases or have you collected coins from circulation or other countries? Or do you like Royal Canadian Mint items?

By my understanding about "Numismatics", it's all about Rarity+History+Subject+Design = ENVOY FROM THE WHOLE WORLD = Big money !
Above, is only my own 2 cents.

Well, he bought, and he felt like that was a fair price to pay (or that is how he makes it sound). I know I wouldn't have spent that much on something like that, but I am not him. Not much more I can say.
(Don't think you can compare it to the '33 eagle though, because without the wrapper, those coins are virtually worth face.)

Above, is only my own 2 cents. In every single example you can find from prices realized in auctions, it is the coin, not the package, that counts...

I have no plan to sell that #20000 last penny roll. I don't even care how high its market value will be, once again, I'm a naive guy, I simply think 99.999% percent collectors in the world will not have a chance to own such a historic and totally unique collectible item.
I'm happy with this collection, we collectors always pursue happiness in heart, right?
