Probably some ridiculous price that only an 'avid and dedicated collector' is willing to pay. There's already a discussion going on about this one in another thread https://goccf.com/t/141834&whichpage=14The burning question is how did this guy manage to get #s 1 through 10? Insider help? Must have been his real lucky day. |

I dunno--what are the odds that all eight of the bidders are private identity concealed? Maybe I'm just a cynic, but I can't help but feel they are all just alter egos of the seller.

The auction is set private, not the individuals.
A common concern with such auctions is that they can cover up shill bidding.
I can't see the justification when #20000 was open.

Since years I buy from the mint. Can't guess how many coins but there were many.... I never had any "nice" certificate numbers :( What the heck, I buy the coins because I like those not the number on a piece of paper!

I have had the same experience was Pixu. Never a low number. How did this guy not only get #1, but all 10 of the first consecutive numbers? Quite the Bonanza.

one could guess either he works at a large RCM distributor or he is a dealer himself, due to minting process at Winnipeg these coins fall into bulk bins, at best they are a random mix of the last million or so produced. Even roll #20000 is not accurate as there are two rolls on ebay with dual # |

How long will that last? Has anyone seen a COA #1 offered for sale? I wouldn't be surprised if the Mint puts these aside for their own collection. All this number nonsense has a risk of causing the Mint to change the COA of NCLT to a serialized hologram on the capsule to feed a whole new premium numbers game. $10 (#20000) -> $6600 $10 (#1) -> $425 (and counting) Since many people most want what they can't have, this would have an effect of depressing the prices of the majority non-special numbers. It would change the dynamic of NCLT completely, where people would chase after one of a set of numbers and the rest are left as an afterthought. "I got #1234! I could understand roll 20,000 going for a big premium because you could pretend it was the historic last pennies ever made.
But what's so great about low serial number rolls? There were still 19,000+ rolls made after them.

The seller is from Vancouver. Maybe he picked them up at the boutique. Or works there. I don't think he will get the $$ for it unless it hits the news like the last one.

I have 4 rolls of these pennies and never thought to look for a serial number...sheesh

I'm the buyer of that serial #20000 roll, I bid 8800$ for that roll and only paid 6600$ at the end.
For this serial #1 roll, I was planning to bid 200$ for it, because I thought it would be cool if I also have the first roll in this release. But when I saw it's a private bidding, I cancelled my plan when the auction just started.
Buying the #20000 roll brought me a piece of canadian history, but paying more than 200$ for this #1 roll can only bring me a little bit "Cool !"
