Is this a capped die or could it be a major Struck Through Grease? The rim is present so I do not think someone sanded off the reverse. Thanks folks.

The blank surface looks suspiciously smooth and flat. Why don't you weight the coin? If it's underweight, then the details on the reverse face were mechanically removed.

Thanks for responding Mike. I know you are a very accomplished error researcher, so whatever you say I know I can trust. My scale is only a 0.1g scale but the coin weighs 3.1g. There would be such a small amount of metal removed, would it even show up on a 0.1g scale? The edge is not dented but it does appear to have the slightest curve to it. If it was a capped die, would the edge be perfectly flat like normal? If so I think it could be a very clever altered coin, but why go to the trouble and throw it back into circulation? Thanks again Mike.
