I was looking through the listing of mint sets in my book, and noticed that the 1957 mint set had a fairly low sold number, but what surprised me was the issue price: $24.50, while most years around that date were in the $2+ to $4+ issue price.
Is this a misprint, or was that really the issue price? If so, why so much higher than neighboring years?

It must be a misprint. It was likely $2.45 and not $24.50.

What book are you looking at? The RedBook list the issue price for the 1957 P & D mint set at $4.40.

Thank you! My book is 2013, 22nd edition, North American Coins & Prices.

I like this book as it covers U.S., Canada, and Mexico - my major coin interests, instead of buying 3 different guides. So I guess that is the tradeoff for one book vs three.
