I was wondering if anyone has a opinion on the Canadian 2004 Cent with the "DOT" under the first "A" of "CANADA" (reverse of coin). I'm curious to see if the majority feels that this will become a sought after variety in the future. Coins and Canada web site has a picture of it under the 2004 Cent tab but there is no listing for it as of yet.

Here is the picture that they have posted:

The reason I'm asking is that a friend of mine has come across a few examples of this particular variety and gave me one to have as a reference. I'm trying to determine if this coin will gain attention in the future.

What do you think?

Here is a link to the coinsandcanada page for the 2004 cent as well:

it is #54 under the "More errors and varieties" section.

When the story came out about the die chip in the CCN, it was a mad scramble. At the time, it was a cheep way to get a prime example of another variety.
I obtained 8 or 10 examples and gave up the search because it is only a die chip.
Time will tell weather it will become popular.
My question is; how dose one get a variety recognised for Coins and Canada?

That is a good question. Maybe write them an email inquiry about it. Couldn't hurt.

This dot is interesting because it can be found on both 2004 and 2004P pennies, which could mean that the same reverse die could have been used to strike both 2004's and 2004P's. That's probably why this particular dot interests some collectors.

The 2004 is the most common, you'll find a few ones if you start looking for it.

I know a store in Quebec (L'Imaginaire) sold them for 20$ (in MS) until he was out of stock.
I sold a few circulated ones myself for less than 10$.

The 2004P though is way much harder to find.
Don't have a clue about the price.

Thank you for the info. I guess I will have to keep my eyes open for them.
