0.242 troy. Nice coin you have there but they did make quite a few. Grading will be different in opinion depending on system used. In the UK it would be EF/VF (rev/obv) but you would get a better grade from the US.

MS62, The marks on the cheek, eyebrow, and nose in combination are too distracting, and the reverse appears too "mushy" for a higher grade IMO.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning... -from PCGS website

THank you all for your responses !!
[MS-63 (PCGS)]
SPP-Ottawa suggest PCGS over ICCS for $5 Gold KGV. Any particular reason I should be aware of? I looked into PCGS and need to choose a dealer, any references on dealers you prefer? I personally think it is worth certifying and MS-62 is probably what is to be expected. I have no experience in Gold coins, this is why I am asking for help!!

PCGS just tends to be a bit more forgiving on grading the Bank of Canada Reserve Gold, and your coin actually is nicer than most I have seen. However, that means little to an experienced coin buyer, when it is time to sell - because a good buyer will pay for the coin, not the holder (or what the holder says). Here it the PCGS population report for $5 gold: http://www.pcgs.com/pop/detail.aspx?c=4421Click on the + box and you can see that PCGS has graded 175 of these reserve gold coins, almost all of which are MS-63 or better.... My preference for PCGS is because it is a better holder to protect your coin. If you want a cheaper option for a hard slab, you could consider CCCS http://www.canadiancoincertificatio...hp?c=17&lg=1

Talk to Frank, at Universal Coins (Bank & Hunt Club), or go out to Almonte and talk to Sean Isaacs at Alliance Coins & Banknotes - they both send stuff to PCGS.
Are you a member of the Ottawa Coin Club? You could bring the coin and have the members try their luck at grading it...
