My first post at this forum. I really like this forum, there so much I can learn, and find out about new product. Thank you to all members here who shares their information with each other. I'm an MC Member at RC Mint, and like so many other members I miss out on "Coneflower with Venetian Glass Butterfly", because it was sold out in 90 min. Here's the review that I submit at RCM for "Glass Butterfly". "I'm very disappointed, how the mint handle the released of this coin. There should be a limit of 1 coin person (like the Perth Mint does). These coin was available to pre-order at Canada post (over the phone) 1 week before, it was even released to MC members. Well, I guess, now I have to spend $300-400 dollars to the dealers, or the flippers on E-bay to buy this coin. Because of that, I can't buy any other new release coins from the mint, this month. TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, THE MINT SHOULD SEND TO MC MEMBERS, PICTURES OF NEW COMING OUT COINS IN ADVANCED. IF A MEMBER LIKE ANY COINS, HE CAN PRE-ORDERED COINS THAT HE LIKE IN ADVANCED FOR AT LEAST COUPLE OF MONTHS. THAT WAY THE MINT CAN MAKE MC MEMBERS HAPPY, AND IT ALSO WILL GIVE THE MINT AN ADVANTAGED TO INCREASED THE MINTAGE OF THE COINS, AND TIME TO MAKE THEM". All posts are welcome. And hopefully my review will be available soon to read at RCM. Edited by Sergio Sriblo 03/29/2013 5:34 pm

Welcome to CCF! I hope you continue to enjoy your time here! I can't be certain, but I believe there's a good chance that your review will not be accepted and published. The RCM reserves the right to edit/refuse submitted reviews that it deems inappropriate. As your review is more a complaint about the RCM's ordering process than it is a review of the coin itself, I think it might get refused. The RCM's website review section isn't meant to be a forum like CCF, so it has more restrictions on its content. Good luck!

I find a couple thing a little wrong about this post. Were the coins actually available for pre ordered a week before. The people who did was just a maybe since for all they knew their post office could not have gotten any. They should have never done it before the public release. Secondly, ordering coins months in advanced for me make no sense. I would be giving my money to buy something that would come in months. Thirdly, I certainly would not buy the coins months in advanced if I do not know the mintage. And lastly all the popular coins would be sold out before public release. The only people who would get them would be MC members. The 1 coin per household being a collector would probably not affect me but what if I want to buy one for myself and one as a gift? I think 2 is a good number. If someone wants to flip they have 1.
And even the 1 coin per household would not solve the issue. Trust me. The only reason it sold out so fast this time is because CP released the release date weeks in advanced so much more people knew to call before internet release. Technically everyone had a fair chance because anyone could have called and anyone could have ordered online.

Ya. Unlimited. Bullion price only. I would not mind that. Nice price to display the coin.

Ya, ya, and if somebody want 100 coins which are unpolular, mint should be limiting as well, right?
2 Original Poster: your complain is not a coin review so not only it could be removed but it should be removed.

Quote: Lets do unlimited mintage for all coins simple I'm guessing your comment was not meant to be taken seriously, but... It would be a return to how the RCM initially approached the mintages of NCLT coins. It accepted orders for a defined period of time and minted enough to meet demand. This approach is certainly one way to let actual collector interest determine the popularity/scarcity of certain releases. In the US, most modern commemorative issues have an authorized maximum mintage that is well above what the initial market absorbs. It enables collectors of the coins to get their coins from the Mint without difficulty and it lets the market decide which coins will become tomorrow's sought after issues due to low initial ordering. This model has created a number of low mintage coins within the series and has resulted in these coins increasing in value on the secondary market due to real demand. Such an approach might also work in Canada.

You have to remember you are talking about one coin out of how many released this year. Holy Cow! People are taking this so seriously for a simple coin. This isn't going to be the last glass coin nor will it be the last coin ever made. Honestly I don't think the mint cares about how the release went. The coin sold out and MC members got their coins and really keeping your whales happy is all that matters. The little fish can made dew with the scraps. Sorry if I offend you be seriously, this is about profits and not customer service. As for unlimited mintages, stupid idea. Works of OK with only a few coins released but the Mint releases Hundreds of different coins every year. Unlimited mintages does not work. The only way the mint is going to keep people interested is by offering new and innovative good looking coins at small mintages. At an unlimited mintage the glass butterfly coin would not even sell for half of the issue price. Now suck it up and go buy one before they hits $400 on ebay. Don't say it can't happen Elk sold one pretty close to $400 already.

Thank you "Commems" for you posts. I thing you're the only member so far that understood me perfectly. I thing, the members who are buying from US Mint, would understand me too. US Mint on some coins clearly posts: mintage to be determined. So it all depends on a collector, if a collectors pre-ordered 50 thousand, mint produces 50 thousand. And if only, let say collectors bough 3 thousand, mint will probably have to produce this amount. I bought one coin already for $250 on E-bay. I'm happy for "Elkslayer132", that he sold 1 Butterfly, for almost $400 . But he also sold this past Tuesday "Buy it now" Butterfly's for only $220 US. I thing, it possible in a few months, this coin can reach almost $700 to $1000.

Ya, $300 is the price now. You may be able to snatch one at around $270 but goes up everyday now. I have no clue if it will level off at $300 go up go down? But it will not go as low as it was a few days ago.

Like I see it...Coin collecting is great...if you keep yourself in the know...and get in fast you can get the coins you want...I have no complaints.... It's all how you play the game...

Winning coins like the butterfly are rare, maybe once or twice a year you get something like this so you have to be ready when the time comes to capitalize on it.
