Coin roll hunting find for the wife.. a 1973D Kennedy rotated reverse (135 degrees?). First one we have found with not being a Magicians coin, this one weighs right and sounds right. I told her it was worth around $20, but being that it is in great shape, MS 63+, maybe more. Anyone have any idea how much these go for? I know they are rare as it is the first we have found in over a year of searching. Thanks

Given its excellent condition, I wouldn't be surprised if it sold for over $100.

Quote: a 1973D Kennedy rotated reverse (135 degrees?). I would call it 45° CCW Rotation, then again I notice most people now use a CW Rotation position only. ~ Nice Find ~

wert,Indian1, look at the first photo.Using wert's info I'd put it at around 140 degrees.

I look when I turn it over and go clockwise from where it should be at 12 o'clock. (135)
* It would only be a little if it were not supposed to be at 12.

I understand what you are thinking especially when you most often see the reverse rotation being off on a coin in the clockwise direction. Here you see it being off CCW. If the hammer die was off then it would be in that direction and vice versa on the anvil die. I guess one could spin the anvil die around past 12:00 o'clock then measure from there. But I think regardless of which die caused the die axis rotation the amount of rotation is still just what it is. We seem to tend to only look at the reverse and compare it to the obverse straight up 12 position. Does that make any sense ?

Indian1: If it were normal the head of the eagle would be pointing south in the mirror. It is pointing north east having rotated about 130/140 degrees CCW from due south. You had estimated 45 degrees CW from due north.

Exactly, if it were around 30 degrees it would not look this way. If t were right it would be upside down. See below for a normal one..
