Hello everybody, I`m interested in the different ways to store your collections. My system is quite simple and furthermore very cheap. I store my banknotes in foils (Lindner 892) which I perforated on the left side (the open one). All foils are filed in an "album" divided into the different periods of German papermoney history (e.g. Empire, Inflation, German Occupation, Western Germany, Colonies etc.). You can put nearly 250 foils in one album. The price for that system is very cheap. An album costs about 3,-€ (3,90 US$) and a package of 100 foils costs me about 12,50€ (16,25 US$). Due to my poor English I`d like to show you some pictures to make sure you understand what I mean ;-) LJ These are the albums standing in my cabinet: Here you can see the interior of an album: some banknotes: Edited by littlejohn 03/31/2013 09:10 am

I have a photo album, a small one, which is not big enough for a 100RMB note, which is clear on both sides, so I can see both sides of the notes. I had bought another one which is larger, can just about fit a 100RMB note in there, but it has black in the middle, so isn't ideal and I use it for those notes I can't get in the other one or ones that are surplus.

I use PVC free currency pages and those are in PVC free binders.

I keep all my notes in a binder with Lighthouse Vario sleeves (PVC-free), organising the notes in country, and grouping those together is similar regions like Germany and all the territories it invaded during WW2 are together.

Just a question about PVC, how much does it affect banknotes? I don't have anything really worth anything, but it would be nice if they remained intact for a long time!

Over a period of years the plasticiser (which makes PVC soft) gasses out and deposits itself directly onto the banknotes. The plasticiser itself is an oily substance. Plastic PVC pipes are 'uPVC' (unPlasticised Polyvynyl Chloride), not PVC.
For this reason, only use Mylar or polypropylene banknote album pages. The oily substance can be removed from coins with acetone, but NOT from banknotes.
Have a look at the the materials used by the stamp collector frarernity.
