Hi all! Some good posts and excellent finds are shown here! Just as a polite request, is it possible to have this finds forum edited a little more on the strict side? I have seen posts showing finds that look like they where purchased from a high street store 5 minutes before, posts showing copious amounts of coins and other stuff found within minutes and items that have been found in a way that is so (dont have a suitable word for here) that it is impossible. This is a forum that is here to show finds, original finds, boring finds and NORMAL finds. Don't spoil it by posting stuff you purchased from ebay, there is no point. Its not big or clever and to make matters worse, novice metdets think they are doing something seriously wrong! Don't worry lads/ladies it is perfectly normal to find nothing but 'junk', 99 percent of the finds you see here are fictional, fact. You will never soar like an eagle if you hang around with turkeys.....

Do you have any examples of finds that look exceptionally "faked"?
I'm not trying to be the "proof please" guy, but I just don't see very many spectacular finds here that would merit faking, except maybe some of the gold nuggets.

Yes I too am interested in what you class as faked I have skimmed through the last couple of pages and found nothing I would put in that category.

Am I allowed to post them here or would you like me to send a private message with them in? There is an obvious one, the advert that is on here for the garret and I have already sent a message in about that one. May be I should use the term 'finds that have been beefed up'.

This is a family friendly forum. But a forum none the less so constructive argument should be no problem. Personal attacks however are not allowed. So I would suggest you state your case along with any facts you have to support it and put the issue up for debate.

My intention is not to upset anyone. The only facts I have are my gut instinct as I was not at the side of the posters when they 'found' the items. I will not say any more about it and will keep my opinion about it silent. I do, however, know that I am not the only one that feels this way. Seriously, take a good look through some of the posts on here. If you think it should be open to discussion then I agree but I have stated how I feel and if there is general opinion around people can debate here. I won't post links to any particular posts as I think that could make the poster feel very uncomfortable?

Any post on CCF should be open for discussion. This is primarily a coin forum but does have a metal detecting section as collecting and detecting seem to go hand in hand. I have to admit your post surprised me so I'm more than a little curious as to which posts you consider contrived. If you feel more comfortable them PM me with the links. I think any poster who posts their finds here would be more than happy to go into detail about what where and how long etc. I love Metal detecting and got back into it a few years ago after a 20 plus year break. Anything that helps the hobby in general I welcome. So your comments are cause for concern if something has been posted that portrays the hobby in a negative way.

From the land of the Bluenose.....well me bouy well said. I enjoy writing a post as much as the dig. Do 2 weeks each year in Lincoln , your way. That is serious digging. Only a hobby and have been at it 41 years. Still like a kid every time I go out and I hear you about the ebay thing. Only a hobby. Do have some very serious UK finds if you would scroll through some older posts. Havea great day.

To the land of the Bluenose...... I am only an hour away from Lincoln buddy, do you have a metdet partner over here? I don't have any sites out that way at the moment but I am sure I could get some! Yep, you have some nice finds not sure the wading around in water up to your neck with snow on the floor would be my idea of fun though!!
