Does this still exist, and if so are there any CCF members?

This was a long way from home, it arrived in a job lot from Scandanavia.

The city of East Detroit renamed itself East Pointe a number of years ago to distance itself from association with Detroit. Sadly, the club is also gone.

Looks like the East Detroit Coin Club has been in a status of "automatic dissolution" since 1977. Few areas of the country have had a more downward trajectory in the 55 years since this club was formed than greater Detroit. East Detroit itself was renamed "Eastpointe" in 1992, specifically to purge itself of any association with the city of Detroit. To put yourself in the mood, I would recommend seeing the films Roger and Me, and Eminem's 8 Mile (named for 8 Mile Road, which divides "Eastpointe" from Detroit).

This is sad news. We just tried to start a Tri City Club ( Midland, Bay City, Saginaw ) with no response.

Don't need to see the movies (have both), I was there 5 years ago. My most abiding memory is of devastated houses and so many stray dogs.

Living just over an hour away from Detroit, I rarely visit there anymore. Today at the Kalamazoo Coin Club spring show I picked up this interesting piece. At the very top are the letters EDCC, the rim shows this as medal number 21.

Interesting! So, that's the year the EDCC became defunct; did they actually just merge into the Michigan State Numismatic Society? And did this token signify that?

I think that the EDCC like other local clubs just folded. Occasionally a local club will merge with another stronger club when that is possible.
