Hi

I have been collecting Byzantine solidus for the past 3 years. My aim is to get one solidus for each of the emperior during the byzantine era from Anastasius I to John IV of Empire of Trebizond. So far, managed only to collect 7 solidus - Anastasius I, Justin I, Phacas, Heraclius, Constantine VII, Constantine IX. still a long way to go for me (too many holes in my pocket). This endevour is definitely going to last me a lifetime.

I chanced upon this site and was blown away with the amount of information. Glad to be part of this community.

To collect Byzantine solidii on this scale is a numismatic labour of love.
There is no doubt that you will eventually become a leading authority on the subject, from whom we could learn.

Collectively we may know a bit on the subject, but I suspect that singularly, you may end up knowing more on the subject than the rest of us put together.

Currently, I have but one Byzantine solidus only, (a more common one of Phocas), but that is because my collection is of a very general nature, part of which includes ancient coins.
