Anyone on here take the plunge on the Little pricey Bee coin?

The wifey loves bee's and really likes the coin,as do I,however I just cant pull the trigger for $70.....she wanted/liked the tiny gold humming bird aswell for $80....could'nt do that one either...

If barely any of the bee coins sell, will the mint cut down the price drastically? As that ever happened before?

Cheers,WJ

Can you go to the restaurant with your wife and spend $70? Then why not buy her this coin? ;)
Mint won't cut prices but if you find CP outlet in 2016 that still has them then you might get discount.

If $70 makes your wifey happy, it's $70 well spent, if you ask me.

I buy my wife anything she likes for coins. I just appreciate her showing some interest! :-) She's already staked her claim to all the glass insect ones. Although maybe that's just so I can't divource her as getting a second set would be just too expensive....

As a woman I understand the appeal of the coin, but it's really small, the size of a 20 for 20 coin. Actually, it's my favourite looking coin in this entire release. I'll give you my impressions of the coin when I see it at the mint boutique.

BTW, TheOne - you are right about exchanging the 20 for 20 coin for store purchases and not for cash. I called the mint in Ottawa to clarify the situation. My rep also said you could use the coin at London Drugs or any store in Canada for purchases - yeah right!

Silverrocket, I agree as well. I saw the honey bee coin on ebay a week ago for presale and thought it looked awesome. Once the coin was released on the mint website and the specs were more clear, it really doesn't seem worth the price... which is unfortunate.

I sent in a review on the mint site and compared it to the newest $20 for 20 wolf coin. Same silver content, same diameter, the only difference is the colored bee. I can't see how that small coloured section could be worth an extra $50 dollars more than the wolf coin.

Edit: Didn't mention the mintage difference, which is significant. But still, is the mintage worth the extra $50?

NCLT aren't bullion. If using spot price to determine a coin's worth, no NCLT will be worth the money.

There's a hoard of people that better suited than I to comment on resale value, but if this is going to be a gift buy, none of the value talk means anything.

The only questions that matter are:

1. Will your wife like the coin? and as you stated she really does.
2. Can you spare $70?

NCLTs that don't do well will not sell out. Depending on the final mintage, they might or might not do well on the secondary market. If very few end up being made, like the first moon mask (~2000-3000), then demand might pick up 3-4 years later simply due to scarcity. Regardless of the move up or down, 99% of coin dealers will not sell below issue price for at least a good few years.

so it really comes down to whether your wife's really liking the coin is worth $70 to you?

But the bee is the size of a dime or smaller. You can't appreciate the coin if you can barely see the details. It definitely looks nice in pictures and the series is interesting.

Might be one of those coins that does not do so well in sales/interest but the next in the series come along and are really popular making this bee hard to find/pricey

All very good points everybody! ......Im thinking now that ill wait until the bee coin is out on display and ill take her to see it for herself....If she still really likes it I will buy it. Her favorite new release was the canopy, and I for sure picked that up!

cheers,WJ

The size of a dime or smaller, sometimes I wonder were people get this info.
Also dealers don't take years to discount coins, enough said on that.

I'm on the fence to on this one and it has nothing to do with how much silver in it I like it just not sure if I like it more then what might be released next and then won't have enough for that one.
