I am tempted to agree that they are Roman colonial. My guesses are the the first is of Antoninus Pius, the second of Tiberius. If someone has a better insightful guess, I would also say that they would have a better chance of being right. If they were mine I would eventually fully identify them, but sometimes it has taken me years to do so in this condition. Report this Post to the Staff

I was once told by an ancients expert that coins with "SC in a wreath" on them are almost always either from Rome proper, or from Antioch. I think the best that can be done in these cases is to call them "Roman Provincial - Antioch? - uncertain emperor". Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis Report this Post to the Staff
