Well, another new guy with a new guy question. I ordered some of the Freedom Girl rounds from Provident Metals the middle of March and mailed them a check immediately. The check cleared five days ago but still no notification of shipment. I emailed them yesterday with no response form them. I have never ordered from them before, so, I don't know if this is normal. I've ordered once from APMEX with very good results and a couple of other times from other dealers with good results. So far I'm not at all impressed with Provident. Is this par for the course with them?

1. Welcome to CCF.
2. Provident is pretty well-regarded for good customer service. You can get details on "waiting time" time frames for personal check payments from their website and I've always found them to be responsive and informative when I talk to them on the phone. I've never had any problems with them and I honestly don't remember hearing any bad news horror stories about them here at CCF.

It's normal. In their policies it says that personal checks are held for a minimum of 6 business days. You can read their explanation of the policy here: http://www.providentmetals.com/policies.htmlProvident is a very good company, and it is worth the wait to get the lower prices rather than paying with a credit card. APMEX, Goldmart, and Provident all have similar wait times when mailing a check. You could always send a money order next time to get things rolling a little quicker.

Like was mentioned checks are the slowest form of payment in terms of getting the items shipped. If you have an issues just give them a call. Theyre a very good company and will even go out of their way to accommodate requests when they can

I wasn't really worried yet, just curious at this point. Having never ordered from them before I was just wondering if this was normal and it seems it is so I will just wait patiently. I would rather wait than pay the extra 3% for a CC purchase. The real item for me was that they didn't answer my email. On the other hand, they may be slammed with orders with spot prices down this week.

I think you are exactly right. Email is always hit or miss. You should have no problem getting some feedback if you give them a call.

While there is no excuse for not servicing customers by , at the every least, answering their inquiries, you may have to be even more patient. Silver Bullet Silver Shield Bullion came up with some great designs for silver rounds hoping to sell 30 or 40,000 rounds. All of a sudden the designs took off and they were buried under orders. They found themselves under staffed, under supplied and lacking production capacity to fill thousands of orders.
They compounded the problem by, trying not to lose customers by , assuring people that all orders could be filled in a timely manner instead of being honest with people by telling them they were short on supplies and production capacity and orders might take months to fill. And of course they kept taking more orders. They shut down their site for a while to new orders and have been assuring people the orders will be filled. But they are months behind.
I would keep up correspondence but I think a lot more patience on your part is to come. I have ordered several items from provident metals, alway without a problem. I wouldn't worry.

Hey Joe, welcome to the forum, I wish you many years of enjoyment in the hobby and I hope your collection grows, whether it is for investment or for coin collecting!
Well, I am not sure.I NEVER use a check with any of these places. Then again, I pay zero interest with my credit cards except for the piddly transfer rate. But I always use a credit card to protect myself and because I dont worry about stacking.
From what I have seen on this board, many folks have ordered from them without problem so you should be ok tho.

Provident Metals is very reliable in my experience, but they do seem to be a bit slow lately. Perhaps it's due to the high demand since the price of silver has dropped lately. I've ordered three things from them in the last month via credit card, and in each case it took nearly a week for the item to be shipped (my last order was placed April 1st and it still hasn't shipped yet). The whole reason I paid by credit card was so I didn't have to wait, but that's life.

I recently order from them and had the same experience as Barry.

I've ordered from Provident several times, and they are not the fastest, but never any problems either.

Just got another order from Provident this week, they are very good. My only complaint with this order was it arrived before they emailed me that it was shipped. I'll like them to let me know ahead of time so I can be home for delivery.

Ditto what GoThunder said. My latest order (placed April 1) just arrived today, but it is still listed as "Processing" on the order status page.

Hi Joe - new to the Forum as well. Welcome to you.
I am a fairly new silver accumulator as well and have bought a fair amount of silver from Provident. They are a bit slow, but have found them to be reliable and their prices are fair. I emailed them on one occasion (I considered their shipping delay extraordinary) and got a prompt response - explaining their SLA. I'm sure they are just busy filling orders, but then again - I have never paid with a check. It may be a different set of circumstances. Personally, I can't say a bad word about them. Hopefully you get your coins soon - the coins you ordered are very cool.

Well, payment has been cleared eight days with still no movement on shipping. They told me they might ship by the end of this week. I think that tells me they don't have the coins in stock that they advertise on their homepage. I ordered from APMEX and got my order in my hand today, which was three business days after it cleared.
