I think the series is done.
I been picking up older ones such as the elephant one. NOW is the time to find these pieces and buy them on the cheap.
They also have PROOF coins of all these animals, I been seeing the Rhino going around recently.
I would give my arm for a proof elephant Rwanda series lol

THanks to SA4H for confirming that I'm not crazy, who knows in time thes coins may follow the same path as the 1954 Bank of Canada bills with the devils face. Now I'm kind of sad I only have the one coin. Best regards to all, Liverpool

The Rhino design is still reasonable..... these take time and patient to search for the right price!

Just wanted to update this thread. I will be working on updating this one since I like this series and I am crazy about the proof coins in this series.
Anyways-
they are going to have a NEW addition to this coin I belive I saw its going to be an Impala.
Also, were you guys aware they made a 1 kilo coin bar in this Rwanda series?
Finally, I have seen proof Rhinos around, which I didnt think existed. Sweet stuff

Quote: The cheetahs are nice and still pretty reasonable. I'd be careful. Cheetahs never prosper.

Cheetah bullions were selling for around mid $30 a few days ago and since the Impala coming out, it had jumped $10..... I should have bought 5 more a few days ago..... :(

I know this thread is old, but I have a related question I was unable to answer reading this or other threads.
On the 2008 gorilla...
There is a mintage reported of 5000 in every listing I can find anywhere.
However, there is pvc without privy f12 and then there is privy f12.
Privy f12 has a reported mintage of 5000.
Does this mean there are actually 10,000 of the 2008 Gorilla BU running around, 5000 with the f12 and 5000 without? Or does the 5000 mintage include both?
Also, do you collect both with and without privy for each year, or do you only collect without (or some other way)?

I missed this thread first go round so thanks for reviving it crazyglue. Rwanda series is my favorite series of all. I collect the BU 1 oz. silver coins and always look forward to the next one each year. It started in: 2008 Gorilla 2009 Elephant 2010 Lion 2011 Zebra 2012 Rhino 2013 Cheetah 2014 Impala 2015 African Buffalo 2016 Meerkat 2017 Hippo Here is what I understand about the series and mostly to answer your question crazyglue no one seems to know just how many there are. The first 5 years the mintage limits 1,000 proofs and 5,000 BU coins Years 6 through present mintage limits 1,000 proofs and 10,000 BU coins. F12 and F15 privy sets had mintage limits of 5,000 and 10,000 but no one seems to have made available the ACTUAL mintages. Even on the BU numbers there have been rumors that FAR less than "the limit" was actually minted. So it is a confusing series to say the least. I do know that the privy coins are not nearly as desired as the original issue coins.

Thanks Debrajc!
It is one of my absolute favorite series also. Appreciate the good information.
My goal is to have the full proof set, full privy set and full regular issue set (both in airtite to match the privy and one set in the original mint plastic). Lofty goal, lol.
As a side note, Rwanda has started a new series in 2017. Same blister pack look. Same 1000 mintage proof.
They have started a lunar series, with 2017 being the year of the Rooster. I picked up the BU and proof, as prices are reasonable right now. I assume it will be a popular series, being both Rwanda and Lunar.
