The wildlife series is really nice. I really liked the gorilla, but good luck finding/affording one.
They are minted in Germany so they are kind of Rwandan in name only.

I have been giving my nephews to introduce them to the concept of hard assets and commodity prices plus interest them in countries around the world. These seem to fit but I would just probably start with the 2013, the previous issues have really high premiums for gifts.

They do, especially the gorillas and the rhinos.
The cheetahs are nice and still pretty reasonable.

Great coins, love em! going off the top of my memory (feel free to correct me if I am off)
They are minted in low numbers... I believe the series has been around 20-30K for the BU coins with the cheetah being on the larger number.
They have done proof and BU coins of almost both.. lets see I think they had a lion, gorilla, elephant, rhino and now cheetah.
I have the proof cheetah, LOVE the coin over the BU version tho they both are nice.
As mentioned, these are made by a german state mint.. very popular in europe. I noticed the proof versions, the older ones, really carry a big premuim as I have seen anywhere from 50-100+ per coin, with I believe seeing the Elephant proof around 150+.
They also did a Rwanda series like this with some other animals but I believe the coin was a bigger size I forget now the size but it was siver proof, such as a black rhino, some type of bird. I saw these once on a online dealer in Austria.
Low numbers with the BU coins... you know I been doing some research because I have been looking to plug holes in my collection on various coins such as these.. and it is interesting, you would think that a low mintage would mean you have a very big premium... but this is not always the case... and in talking with some dealers recently, its because of a couple factors- 1- market demand,, even with a low mintage, if collectors arent interested, it doesn't rise much and 2- liquidity... some of the better coins that carry a premuium because they can be sold rather quickly compared to other similiar coins in the category... think of a silver brittania versus silver american eagle.
Granted, both are nice coins,, the brittania has such a nice design.. however, more folks are familiar with the Eagles versus the Brits.... so it will take longer to unload the Brit seeing that universe is smaller...
which makes sense in these coins in my travels and talking with dealers.
In anycase, one of the saving graces of this hobby is that you can collect what YOU want... what YOU like. Theres something for EVERYBODY. For myself, I love all these world silver and gold coins.. and for me the Rwanda coins are a must.. in fact my on "get list" are getting the proofs of this series which I believe are lion, gorilla, zebra and elephant.

I have a few Rhino and I really like it (bought them from APMEX, APMEX sold out though). I also found a seller on ebay willing to sell the Cheetah for around $55/ea shipped if buying 5+. This price is the cheapest I found (cheaper than APMEX when add shipping). If any members interested, maybe we can have a group buy. I cost me $2 to ship any package w/in USA (up to 4oz) with Delivery Confirmation.

I also have the Rhino and Cheetah. I won't be paying the premium to get the first four. If I can find them down the road at a significantly lower price, however, I'll happily add them.

I havent gotten the Cheetah yet,, the BU that is. I am tempted to get the proof versions first, as I love proof silver and gold coins.

I got to spend some time going over my collection over the weekend and noticed something new about the F15 Rwanda Rhino. Maybe some others have seen it. Perhaps I've got too much time on my hands but does Africa kind of look like a demon or devil in profile, it would be looking away from the rhino. This would apply to any of the Rwandian wildlife series with the continent to one side. Has this been noted before or should I get my eyes checked?
