Hi there, I recently bought a 2002 £5 coin commemorating the golden jubilee with a matt proof finish. My coin catalogue doesn't list it. My local library doesn't have Krause and The Royal Mint hasn't answered my enquiry to them.
Can anyone confirm that this coin was issued in matt proof please.

I couldn't find any reference to a matt proof for this series. 2002 Issues: BU, Proof or Silver Proof.

Can I ask where you purchased it and did you buy it as a matt proof? A photo could help if you can post one?

Hello marz,
I bought this coin on ebay although I'd not seen any others for sale. It wasn't untill after the purchase was completed and I checked the sellers other listings that I felt something might be wrong. They are also offering matt proofs of 1977 25p; 1996 £5; 2005 £5; 2006 £5 and several others, none of which I had seen before. I don't normaly collect new(ish) issues but do buy a few to leave to my nephews, by which time they may be worth something.

Sorry I can't send photos of this coin as I haven't worked out how to get decent pictures yet but the above coins are still listed with better photos than I can get.
