Wish I had that catalog with me at work, Anoob-- don't have time to search for this one right now, maybe later if no one has guessed it by then.

TIF- you have to be like me, go to work, and log on to CCF, and play guess the whatever all day...if anyone looks at me they will see my grimmising face and automatically assume I am deep in thought researching someway to make the company more money...little do they know...
Ski / Chris - I am surprised at you guys- I thought for sure the metal of the coin would have given it away or at least narrowed down the selection to the one of two coins I have.... ahaha..
I suppose only showing coins from my collection makes it a tad easier.

Busy morning. I've seen this type before, but I can't remember who it is.

But.... but...
Didn't John I rule in the 10th century? Have I been scouring the wrong 100 years?

OK, this one is going to be a very tough one so I'm going to give as much info I can without giving away who it is. This is an extremely rare coin with less than 100 every found. None have ever come to auction, so no auctions records exist. I know of two references that list this coin, one is ERIC II and the other is Wayne Sayles book on Byzantine coins. I sold this coin to Rasiel Suarez about two years ago. The place were this was struck has the same name as a city in the US. Good luck.

No, but good guess. He revolted against Isaac II.
