Hey all. So I've been wanting to do a contest here for a while and finally thought of something.
How would you all like a "Guess The Grade" contest? I know a lot of people love to grade coins around here and they love the "GTP" contest, so I thought it would be fun.
This contest will be a lot like "Guess The Price".
But before we can do this, I need coin pictures please!
We will have 10 rounds. So I need 10 people to send me pictures of the obverse and reverse of their coin, plus a picture of the entire slab for when I reveal the grade. Or if you would like, you can send as many pictures of your slabbed coins as you want. If I get more than 10, I'll decide which ones to use.
I will give it a few weeks and if I don't have at least 10 pictures, I guess we can't do the contest... Unless someone has a suggestion for how I can get pictures of slabbed coins.

How It works
Each round, I'll post a picture of the obverse and reverse of a coin. Everyone will have until a certain date to post their guess on the grade. Whoever guesses the grade correctly first gets 20 points. Whoever guesses it 2nd, 3rd, and 4th(Runner ups) will get 10 points.
If no one else guesses it correctly, whichever 3 people had the closest guesses to it will receive 10 points each.
Also, everyone will receive 5 points for each round they participate in.
Edit- Forgot to say, also, whoever owns the slabbed coin for the round will receive 20 points.

I hope this all makes enough sense, I just typed it up really quick so I could get it out there and see if anyone has any suggestions or questions on the contest.

So, tell me what all of you think! Is this a good idea or bad idea? Is there anything you don't understand? Do you have ANY questions? Do you have ANY suggestions?
I hope you all give this a shot because I feel like it could be fun.

Lastly, I'm not sure if there will be a prize for this. I'm on a very low budget and can't really afford a prize. If this is popular and we can do it again, I'll hopefully have a prize for the winner the next time.
If anyone would like to donate a prize, please email me so we can work it out.

Thanks all!
-Zack

Sounds great Zack! I don't have any slabs, but I look forward to participating in the contest. No need for prizes, sounds like it will be fun just the same.

Would my 1895-O Barber dime in, ahem, higher, a LOT higher than fine qualify?
I have already posted the grade here in the past but NEVER the price!
It went through Heritage a year or two before I bought it.
My most expensive purchase to date, and unlikely to be duplicated in the future.
Advise me please.

Since the grade has been posted on here before, I'm not entirely sure it would be fair if that one was allowed.

I'm not much of a grader, so it would be good practice for me!

I still haven't received any pictures yet. I believe some emails may have went into my spam folder and I accidentally deleted them. If you have sent me pictures, please re-send because I most likely deleted them by mistake. My apologies.

Zach its a good idea, I like it. I'm curious how the guessing will bei done. If no one can guess the same grade, like in GTP, you would run out of grades pretty quick. At least reasonable ones. And if you do allow multiple guesses how would ties be decided? not trying to be a downer, just figured we would get it all straight before it started
