It is 1mm smaller than a Stirling silver florin and weighs 4.11 grams lighter so I definitely think it being gold is out of the question. Other than that I wouldn't have a clue what this medallion is about. Crikey you get some interesting stuff Shane

I have found most of my stuff listed under federation when searching the net then take the link back to ebay got a federation printing plate from a cheque the outher day 1900 to 1910 james king and son from what I found so far james king was the mayor of Adelaide in 1910 it was mad e for THE NATIONAL BANK OF AUSTRALASIA LIMITED HINDMARSH

Nice pickup. Not gold, doesn't weigh enough. Balance of probabilities is that it's some sort of medal struck for the bicentennial. There were dozens of them struck. You could send a picture of it to the RAM, someone there might know what it is.

it is very thin about the same as a 10c coin about 1.7mm

ok the box could be the key has anyone seen the oat of arm inside the lid of the black box from what I have seen the mint uses a different logo any one got this design and when did they start to use this design thank purple penny I have that book its post that book I think

more info got a reply from the Canberra mint they didn't do it they think its a trial for the Canberra centenary 1013 and was given to people over 100 years old and made at the Perth Mint has anyone seen this emblem on a Perth Mint lid reply from the mint below hope this jogs someones memory Dear Mr --------- Thank you for contacting the Royal Australian Mint.
