1. Those half dead nickels you referred to,were for the last three holes of a Jefferson nickel book for a special needs 10 yr old boy who has a very hard time remembering the value of a nickel = 5 cents. I doubt that anyone but a fool would put a MS67 in that book. (Feel good about that comment?)

You missed the point of his comment. It wasnt to actually degrade you it was an example of how someone could say that about your collection like you were saying about lowballs.

Lastly Basebal21, when I said the lowball, internet, library comment, you were close to what I meant. In actuality it was more along the lines that coins that are very low mintage any grade are keep-able. Otherwise generally below an ag-3 are simply bullion or junk coins. These are my opinions and nothing else.

Thats fine no one said you have to collect them. If you had simply said I dont get the allure of them or why they have the premiums no one would have a problem with what you said. But you didnt say that you degraded them for reasons that apply to all coins across the spectrum in anything but the top grade blast white coins.

I dont collect low balls myself but I understand what they are and their market in the same way the markets for the top grades work. I'm not trying to convert you to them but you should think about your criticisms of them considering how needing a picture or once theyre that way doesn't go back also applies to toned coins or anything not AU or above.

I have to agree it does seem your trying to walk it back now with how abrasive you were towards them. Whether or not any of this clicks with you doesn't matter much to me but other people read the comments and without clarification would have walked away thinking PCGS is taking advantage of suckers which isn't the case.

Many collectors are low ball lovers and there is nothing wrong with that. If thats what they like fine its their money thats buying it. Myself I like the best I can afford and its certainly not lowball. I will say though that I have a few lowballs but they are only additions as far as a sample of an earlier era of the coins that I'm actually collecting.

@Fatman- that may be a byproduct of what you are doing, but I don't think it is your intent at all. It's a turn off.

With all due respect, you're doing the other "it's the Internet" fallacy: overreacting based on your opinion of the import of someone else's words without having a clue as to their intent. Me, I've been laughing out loud for 36 hours at fatman's responses.

I was reconsidering my use of the word sucker, and for that I'm sorry.

I believe those to be honestly-expressed words, but I chose to interpret them differently and as a result that was the funniest thing I read all day. Lighten up, guys.
