Well usually I'm posting in the error forums, But today I tested out my Ace250 upgrade from a Bounty Hunter somethingerather. The Ace was by far easier to use, the custom option is awesome. Didn't get a chance to play for very long, windchills of 20 suck. 1st coin pulled, a 1947D Wheatie..a good start.. a 42' Nickel, 67' dime, 78' quarter, 2007 and 1983 cent.

Nice finds, I'm considering on getting a garret ace 250. Is that '42 nickel silver ( you can tell if there is a big mint mark on the tails side.)

My wife and I each have the ace 250. We have had them for a couple years now with no problems and have found a lot of stuff. Those are good finds for your first day out. And I know how you feel with the windchills of 20.

@Daniels - it does not have a beach setting. The modes are all metal, jewelry, custom, relics, coins. You can also discriminate between diffrent types of metals. Other features are sensitivity and pinpoint. The pinpoint gets you really close to the object in the hole but I use a cheaper whites bullseye 2 wand to locate it faster, it saves me a lot of time and I'm not digging for nails for 15 minutes.

? The Ace250 tells you exactly what it is reading with the little icons, no? Additionally, the tones tell the rest of the story. I'm not sure what else there is to tell since there are no VDI numbers on this machine.

jerseyben the coins are made of a different material to the US coins so the read up all over the place. our pre 200 quarters are nearly pure nickel where Us are a mix between copper and nickel. the tones change as the machine is not used to the canadian coins.
