I just " inherited" some Austria 2 Heller (1892-1915) coins - 420 of them. It took me a while to identify them since there's no words or country printed on them only "2" & the date. There's some other similar looking coins from around 1874, but according to what I found, these 2 Heller coins were only as far back as 1892. I didn't take pix but I'll try to post a stock photo from the 'net. These are basically what mine look like, except not as clean. See pics below. Edited by yechi7 05/11/2007 02:07 am

Yep, those are Austrian 2 hellers. Austria went decimal in 1892; prior to this, the smallest coin was a "kreuzer", about the size of a 2 heller, with the same double-headed eagle on the obverse, this time with a German legend around it. The reverse just has "1" in a wreath.

The Austro-Hungarian Empire, also known as Austria-Hungary, Dual Monarchy or k.u.k. Monarchy or Dual State, was a dual-monarchic union state in Central Europe from 1867 to 1918. Heller was the currency of Austria-Hungary from 1892 until after the demise of the Empire. In Vienna you can buy a lot of coins like on the scan for low price(something 5 euro per 50 coins).

In Fine, CV for the Austrian 2 heller is 15¢ to 20¢ for most dates. 1892 is scarce; $50 or so. 1898 and 1905 are about $1, 1901 $2.50.

Many people know the keys & semi-keys of their favorite denomination. Only Sap would know the keys & semi-keys of the Austria 2 Heller coin. I'm amazed. Thanks!

You're welcome. I'm only reading out of the catalogue, though. quote: yechi7 asked: What's a euro in $US?
Whether you're doing lots of international transactions or have simply acquired a modern world coin or banknote and are wondering what it's face value is, what you need is an international currency converter website; www.xe.com is the most famous. It'll convert any amount of any currency into US$ or any other currency. Right now, 1 euro = US$1.35.
