Have there ever been rounds produced for the less commonly traded metals, like iridium (or the rest of the platinum group)? I'm asking because I have a soft spot for osmium (the very densest metal, and it's kind of blue) but the only sample I can find is a 5-gram blobule from a science supplier. It would be nifty if there were ever display samples made (although I have my hopes up for Metallium's Element Coins line).

I am pretty sure they were going to produce some made of unobtainium But you just can't get them

There is one vendor that may be of interest to you. Check out ... http://www.fullmetalbullion.com ... I'm not certain of the environmental safety and health ramifications of all of
their non-mainstream products, so proceeding with research and caution might be prudent. I'd like to presume that everything they offer is 100% safe in every way, but I don't know.

On another note, I'm curious. Do you intend to stack these things (in the style of stacking Ag/Au/Pt/Pd) or are you considering just assembling an assortment of metal oddities?

Happy shopping.

Think about the liquidity of owning such oddball items. Not everyone is looking for osmium.

MMMMMM---Strategic metals come to mind--- An excellent idea for rarity and investment. A lot of homework picking the minds of scientists and government departments.

I just wanted a little round to hold in my hand, not to invest. There's just something alluring about the world's densest metal... (I'm expecting osmium and iridium to go down as soon as someone works out asteroid mining so no great expectations there)

I actually used to collect elements and this overlapped with my coin activities. I have all the legally-ownable radioactive metals in some form except for thorium, and I wanted to know if there was a good display option for the lesser-known platinum group metals. It would be cool if they were in bullion form, but I was really just looking for anything more refined than a melted bead.
