Unicorn Design - Outer Ring

Unicorn-Design---Outer-Ring

I received my Unicorn today. Looks perfect!

As I was carefully looking at the coin details, I was wondering about the outer ring. Is this supposed to resemble a horse/unicorn hoof? Is this an English design or some other culture?

The Griffin had a Greek symbol as the outer ring so I figure the Unicorn design must have some significance.

Anyone figure this out yet?
