About the size of a nickel. Looks like a token as I don't see any writing, date, or denomination.

What is it?

A friend graciously invited me to this site today. It has previously produced several museum piece buttons (1600s) and a 1793 wreath cent (among other things).

Has one of these tokens ever even been found in New Jersey before?

While I would like to think so, there is no way to know that for sure.

I will take it with me to the next big show and see if anyone has any interest in it. I know rarities like this are often included in studies. Hopefully I can find someone who would benefit by knowing that it simply exists.
