Obtaining Bank Box Rolls - Coin Community Forum

treasurehunter Valued Member United States 52 Posts	Posted 05/11/2007 11:33 pm This may sound like a stupid question, but I'm trying to find out how to go about getting bank box rolls in a specific date. I'm always looking for cents. When I go to the bank I can get a bank box but the coins are always mixed. Yet on ebay I see them selling boxes or rolls for a specific year but always at a premium even for 2007. The bank tells me they can't get specific dates if they order, the mint does not sell cents in bags or rolls and I can't purchase from the federal reserve, so I'm just wondering how they get them, or what anyone else does to obtain. I do understand that I might not be able to get later date coins from a bank, but I had hoped I could at least pick up some 2007's. Any Thoughts? Report this Post to the Staff

Tykimeister Pillar of the Community United States 882 Posts	Posted 05/11/2007 11:36 pm You have to go to the right banks that get the new coins. When they do the coin order, sometimes their distributor gets the new coins in stock to give out to all the banks. Some times they only get them certain times of the year. Like to get brand new bank notes from the bank, you will have to check around the holidays since thats when people need clean crisp cash to give out as gifts. Ty Report this Post to the Staff
treasurehunter Valued Member United States 52 Posts	Posted 05/12/2007 2:36 pm Yes, maybe I need to check more banks. So far I got only 2 rolls of 2007 cent from a bank. That's a first for me. I've never gotten a roll with all one date in them before. Some banks are strange though, and don't want to give up any of there rolls like there's a penny shortage or something! I guess they just don't want to be bothered with coin. Going to my first coin show this, maybe I'll find some there. Report this Post to the Staff

I did already purchase some D mints on ebay, but thanks so much for your offer. Since I live on the east coast I had hoped I'd be able to get Philly mint my self. Did pick up some rolls at bank yesterday and have been finding some nice 06's. I think I'll try another bank and see if they can purchase a mint box from the federal reserve for me.
