Hi There. Thanks for the reply. The coin was found among the belongings of a friend's relative, who was born the the 1930's and passed in 2012.

Yes, sad to say, it's not a genuine coin. It's a cast copy of an ancient Greek coin. Specifically, the design is taken from the reverses of two different silver tetradrachms of Phillip II of Macedonia, the father of Alexander the Great. The top pic is borrowed somewhat loosely from a coin like this, while the bottom pic is derived from a similar coin but with the horse facing the other way, like this.

Excellent and accurate feedback, thanks. Now to ascertain where it comes from and it can bvecome a quaint heirloom with some history.
Some feedback from a 'collector of everything' was
'I believe it is a ‘copy' of an ancient sliver coin from the time of Phillip, the father of Alexander the Great. They were apparently made in the 50s and 60s for use in promoting a book on coins. The size and weight (7.9) are a good indicator.'

Sap is usually at least a couple of steps ahead of me, but that was my beginning inclination as well.
The fields made me immediately reluctant about it being a genuine coin.
