Back in the 80's, Bowers & Merena sold a series of plastic holders under the 'Kingswood' brand. They had holders for series and also the best set of type holders I ever saw. Would anyone know who may be selling them today? Anyone familiar with these?

Wow, you must be able to read my mind! I was just going to ask that but thought I should do a search first. I got a book by Q David Bowers on Type sets that showed them. Man they are awesome! Hope someone can give us some insight.

I was able years ago to locate one, on eBay- for the late 1800's. I should just start filling it but I'd like others if they can be located. As I recall some guy had listed about 5-6 of the type set holders and I got outbid on all but this one. They were made by Capital for the Bowers company and look terrific.

I am reactivating this thread on the chance that someone may have some idea where I could look to find some of these? It just seems difficult to believe they all vanished into the woodwork when they were current. There has to be someone out there who might know of a source. Thanks in advance.

Yeah, isn't it strange? It's like they all disappeared. Of course, it may be they were so good everyone buying them held onto them. You'd think after 25 years some would be showing up on ebay or in dealer stocks, but no. Frustrating because I know there are some of these out there- maybe in some dealer's stock- left over from a collection he bought. I just can't figure out how to get the word out that I am interested.

Well, the current generation Capital typeset holders are not greatly different from the Kingswood design. I do like those Kingswood sets, though.

The thread noahs-numismatics linked says that these were made by Capital Plastics, which supports SsuperDdave's assessment.

I know a dealer who had the complete set for sale at a local coin last year I can email him and ask if he still has it. He was asking $300.00 for it which is a very good price. I have the one for the 20th century new issues which I have not yet decided whether I am going to fill it.

Gyrene- please, ask if he still has them. That's more than I intended to pay but maybe we can dicker. I have the one for coins 1861-1900. If you decide you don't want the one you have, I will gladly buy it from you. Just let me know!

I believe these were made by Capital Plastics. As they do custom orders. What's so nice about these ?

We have seen these holders, and they are impressive! All Capital plastics of this size are spendy.
