I started a new thread as I understand that some folks were having problems get viewing the old thread.

Well all the finalists have reported back and each has come up with a great way to set them little fellas free.

oih82e8 gave each one its own unique way to freedom. He even added a couple of his own for good measure. A lot of people must be smiling and shacking their heads wondering were they came from. Putting one in the collection plate at church is one way that never occurred to me.

skyshark124 also gave each its own individual send off. I like the story of the waitress that came running out to the parking lot asking what it was. I especially like the idea of giving to the little boy that hit his head. I think we got new collector there.

WildYapok's idea was to make them part of a class project. What a terrific idea for getting kids to have fun learning about geography. Maybe as a community we can continue to do this with members contributing coins to schools to encourage learning about history and geography and foster an appreciation of coins.

Trickworm tried something really different by adding an email address to the coins and then setting them free. Now that's really going to make people think.

Finally xZACKx turned the whole passing the hobby down to the next generation on its ear. He passed the hobby back up to the previous generation and got his Dad excited about Buffs.

As much as I liked each and everyone of the stories you guys came up with I had to pick one to be the winner.

So, xZACKx, congratulations.

Your story really got to me and I think its just great that you thought of your Dad when you came up with a way of setting the Buffalos free!

Your grand prize:

Let's-Set-Buffalos-Free!--Part-2,-The-Winner!

It will be coming to you as soon as I can get it wrapped up and to the post office.

I hope everybody had fun, I know I did. Thanks!

Thanks for the great contest! There were some really fun stories to read - I wouldn't be surprised if a good handful of new collectors were born :)

I was at the library today and there was an elderly gentleman by the front door sitting at a table. He was selling / soliciting donations for the VFW / DAV type thing. On the way out he was talking to another elderly gentleman. I donated 2 SBA's I had with me and we began talking about coins, wheat pennies, etc and the one of the gentleman mentioned the 1999 SBA ( I was surprised as I was almost ready to say 1981 was the last year until he mentioned it and I remembered the 1999) and then I told them about the 2000 Cheerios dollar and the story and value.

Hopefully I made someones day today and brought back a memory of history to someone.

Congrats on paying it back to the past generation.
