I've been lurking on this forum for a long time, but I was so excited by this I decided it was time for my first post.

I've been an avid penny roll hunter for many years. However, in celebration of National Coin Week last week, and the 100th anniversary of the Buffalo nickel. I went to my bank and got 10 rolls of nickels.

I've never searched nickel rolls before, so I wasn't sure what I would find. Much to my surprise, half way through the sixth roll, out falls a 1913 type 2 with full date... For real... I've found maybe 5 1909 cents in 15 years of roll hunting, so I totally expected nothing from 10 rolls of nickels. Was this just beginners luck, or do you nickel hunters find things like this often?

Every year, as National Coin Week approaches, individuals and clubs put various collector coins back into circulation for others to find. They hope those that find the coins will be encouraged to become a coin collector (if they weren't already).

Considering the theme of this year's NCW, I wonder if the nickel you found was the result of such an activity?

I have never gotten anything in rolls of nickels, but I have had quite a bit of recent luck finding silver in pocket change.
