Specimen Set - Blue-winged Teal - 75th Anniversary of Ducks Unlimited Canada (2013) Anyone getting this set? I live right beside a Ducks unlimited Sanctuary, I might get it, Not normally big on these sets, maybe this year. A feed back on the mint site below, nothing on the set about the 75th anniverary Quote: The quality of the coins is very nice, however, I was expecting some mention on the set about the 75th anniversary of Ducks Unlimited Canada. http://www.mint.ca/store/coin/speci....UY5T2RdJNcwEdited by Northerncoins 05/11/2013 10:25 am

Of the 2013 releases, it was the one I was most interested in. Specumen sets get nolove, but I think the teal is a gorgeous coin, and a good investment. TAs an asside, I got the half from the set as a single, and it's stunning.

I got one a couple of months ago because I collect specimen sets. Really didn't connect it with DU and I think it came out before the silver duck coin and subscription set was known.
I assumed at the time it just followed the other special 1 dollar specimen coins:
2004 Goose 2005 Puffin 2006 Snowy Owl 2007 Swan 2008 Eider 2009 Blue heron 2010 Harrier 2011 Grey Owl 2012 Double dated loon w/ chicks 2013 Teal Duck

Again, if you just want the loonie you can pick one up from asyn for about $22-23 + tax. They've been listing one a day for weeks now. I got the set from the RCM myself when it first came out.

Who /where is Asyn? Might be interested in getting just the loonie.

I collect the specimen sets. I love seeing the different loonies and twoonies.. It's a break from the normal. Asyn is an ebay seller, he has the single coin listings with the mint green background

Ok thanks...ummm why would they sell just the loonie, not that I am complaining ,but what do they do with the rest of the set? Or are they selling each coin and trying to make more money that way? Tried to bid on 2 but was out bid by 3***0( 40) who is auto bidding , he is winning all 3 coins...interesting either he really wants all 3 or is inflating the prices Seller has lots of neg feedback, maybe I will just buy the set from the mint .

@Northerncoins, just an FYI, last year's 'Last Penny Set' - just the pennies (99.99%silver) were selling near $100 from broken sets. This isn't new.

I guess so, just have not thought too much about spiting up sets like that , always thought they would be worth more as a set but I guess not .
Its $57.44 CAD a with taxes and I have free shipping at the mint, would be more with shipping...not sure I want it that badly lol.

Lots of sniping on asyn's listings. Better to check the completed listings than the existing bids to get a reasonable price range. The last 4 have sold for $26-28. The ones before that were going for $21-23 for a while. Seller has lots of feedback period. :-) There are a few other threads on that subject in this forum already :-). My experience has been that if you are careful and patient and not worried about cases & COAs you can pick up some good deals on the NCLT side. If you buy into their grading on the circulation side you WILL overpay. If you check all the listings sorted by newly listed then you'll see the entire set as individual coins. My best deal so far on this sort of thing is getting all the coins from the 2012 regular proof set (silver dollar, nickel coins and copper penny) for $66 including tax (and free shipping) compared to the issue price of $112.95 including tax (and free shipping) from the RCM.

Yes, you do see the same bidders showing up. Some bid on all the silver dimes, some on all the silver dollars etc.

I guess that guy (3**0) is trying to get it for 20$-22$ max, that might be why he is bidding on all of them.

I got one for @ $23. The good thing about buying from asyn is that he only charges me 5% tax now. Used to be 12
