I have had this coin for a few years now, the closest coin I have found that looks like it is the following;

Mint Kabal Dar as Sultant AH 1295 - 1295

It's described as a rupee, but the one I have is half the weight & as of yet I have been unable to match the front & back. I would say its slightly bigger than a new five pence piece in size.

The coin it's self is made of silver & in comparison to the condition of the coins of this time it's condition is quiet reasonable. I would love to know more about the coin, I can scan & email pictures if you would like a look at it.

Email is. ***E-Mail Address Removed*** Answers should be posted here for all to read.

Hello and welcome.

If it's half the weight of a rupee, then chances are it's a half-rupee coin.

Here's a half-rupee from Kabul dated 1295. Does your coin look something like this?

Here's the catalogue reference page for this coin from the NGC database; there's no picture on the database, but this is the same type (referred to in the catalogue by the reference number KM# 514).

AS you can see, it's not worthless, though not particularly valuable either. "Islamic" coins generally aren't very valuable in the West, even when they are fairly scarce one-year-types such as this piece, simply because they aren't popular with Western collectors who can't read Arabic or Persian.

The date "AH 1295", if you were wondering, is in the Islamic calendar and converts to AD 1878.
