Welcome to CCF. My wife is from China so she can actually read the coin. It is from Hunan provence which is the writing at the top on the 2nd picture, the 2nd picture is upside down :-) She says the date is worn out on the reverse, but the first lettering states "late 19th century" according to her. There were no actual year dates on these coins. We have a small collection from her country dating back to 18th century. Coins are passed down in the families there, like heirlooms. She has absolutely no idea on fair market value though. She says the English writing was minted since trade had started in Southern China at this period.
