Hello, I'm from the US and heading to Canada next month and I've heard on here that some places sell coins at the local post office. Is it up to each Post office to stock/sell them?
Do they have actual stock on hand or can you just order there?
Would a bigger town have more coins (assuming you can buy them at the PO) or are you better looking at smaller towns?
I'm headed to PEI and Halifax .

Thanks!

it is a hit or miss. Some carry more than others. Some only carry garbage coins. It's all depend on the clientele they have

If you go to http://www.canadapost.ca ,
you can get a list of post offices in a particular area.
Many drugstores have small postal outlets (Shopper's Drugmart for example).
Rest in Peace

We have a number of post offices in Shoppers Drug Marts, along with our "Main Post Office", however, oddly enough, it's the PO that is in the Gas-station/7-Eleven store that has the greatest variety and stock of RCM products in Sarnia. More so even than the local coin/antiques/auction dealer.

You could look up the postal outlets online that are close to your route, give them a call and ask them about specific coins. Sometimes they tell you that they have lots of coins but they are not the ones you're looking for.

Here's a link you could try: http://www.canadapost.ca/cpotools/a...ndPostOffice

Hi havanacoins!

I hope you enjoy your trip through the Maritime provinces next month.

There's lots of beautiful sights to see and the folks are very warm warm and friendly.

You should find lots of post offices and drug stores along your route, so chances are your search will pay off!

Have a great time!

Most small town/villages don't have a good selection at the post offices, some have maybe a few different coins at best, Postal outlets in Halifax might be your best bet but you really don't know . Like some one posted above check the PO website and stop in the ones that are near your trip route , you just never know.

I'm in Saint John. I wish I could help, but I don't check the post office since NCLT isn't my thing. There is a post office near our gallery in the Lawtons Drug Store in Brunswick Square that has coins. Good luck!
