while I've been reading and gathering information about how to get the suitable safe, because everyone has to make the right choice of the safe that will provide a lifetime security to his belongings, I found some important things that one might forget upon making his choice:

- when you have already specified the safe's size that you need, you should buy a little bigger safe, because after you store your valuables in the safe, there will always be some items that you won't find room for.

- if you intend to build a closet or a small room for the safe, make sure you have access to electricity in that room.

- don't forget to include a dehumidifier to keep the contents rust-free.
Rest in Peace

I would add that it might be better to have a few smaller safes rather than one large one.
Smaller safes are easier to hide, and if someone tries to break in, they will hopefully stop looking for valuables after they find the first safe, thinking that's all there is.
Or at the very least, it would take them longer to break them open.

Gun safes are compulsory in Australia. Are they suitable for coin storage?

Sel I think it depends on the specific safe but gun safes do seem to be a common favorite for storing high valued things

in the process of researching safes myself, a lot of the sites I have looked at can modify a gun safe to store just about anything

Humidity is a huge concern inside a safe. I have dessicant bags in both my gun and coin safes as well as a heating rod to displace moist air. Therefore I need them to be an electrical socket. Determine where you want to put the safe first and then shop. I learned that lesson the hard way as I now have a safe one half inch too wide for the closet I wanted it to go in.

I store my valuable in a locked filing cabinet. It weighs a lot when full so if burglar looking to take stuff fast and get out won't take it. Only costs me $40 dollars for that square feet of space, it'd cost $300 plus for a safe which would look more suspicious anyway as to its contents. Looking to buy another lockable filing cabinet as mine is getting pretty full.

Also a big fyi, I've been burglarized 4 times and the theif never got into or bothered taking the filing cabinent so I know it works. Just letting you all know. While I was installing a security system he got in 3 more times after the first. 3 into the garge for a 2400 dollar snow blower, 2nd was 500 dollars in power tools in a bag, 3rd was an attempt at my Dad in laws Harley but failed, Lastly was in the house and they took a MacBook laptop. (reported to police never found). told the wife not to leave it out, I carry my alienware laptop with me at all times.

They went in quick though, they missed my wifes Movado Watch which I always tell her to put in the filing cabinet.

You can get these cabinents at Target or lots of places online. $40 bucks.
