Unfortunately what your friend experienced if the norm for listings from there instead of the exception.
I wont buy anything that gets shipped out of china. Its the counterfeiting capital of the world. I couldn't emphasize enough to stay away from any listings from there especially coins and precious metals.

A huge percentage of the world's counterfeits come from there now, so I would never be able to wrap my head around buying coins from there. Maybe just a mental thing, but I wouldn't get anything from there that I could get elsewhere.

It's hit and miss. If they are a trusted selled with good feedback go for it. Not everything counterfeit that comes out of china.
Speaking of numismatics and bullion lately most of the counterfeit bullion and numismatics are coming out of Canada.
Would that mean you wouldn't buy from a Canadian seller?

Quote: Would that mean you wouldn't buy from a Canadian seller? Depends on the seller. But the big difference between Canada and China is that Canada does crack down on large rings pumping stuff out. As long as the stuff goes overseas China turns a blind eye to it

Any problems with the new Pandas? I heard something about the edge either being smooth or serrated? The serrated type being the real McCoy...

i am pretty sure, that the majority of the fake stuff found in Canada: originated in China, They really need to shut down the sites that openly advertise that they make replica coins(fake)..they are everywhere..

Stick to reputable places to buy those or ones still mint sealed and if you like nicer ones can always get graded ones. Theres a lot of places now though you can buy them who gets them directly from the Chinese mint, just dont scour the ends of the internet looking for deals to good to be true
