Perhaps we can make a list of coin "faults" (for a lack of a better term) that plague Canadian coins. They are not errors. This may help with new collectors that think that they may have something extraordinary when they are quite common. If anyone can expand on the names of the faults it can help us as collectors to name and explain their causes to others.

25 cents caribou (nickel plated steel): cracks emanating from the "R" in "Regina" and from the antlers (like lightning bolts). I've only noticed this very very recently on 2012 quarters so I'm now checking them frequently on any other new quarters that I get.

10 cents (nickel plated steel): weakly struck beads at around the 4 o'clock and sometimes the 8 o'clock areas of the reverse side.

10 cents, 2001 "Year of the Volunteer": below and above lettering near the edges of the coin, there are streaks, I don't know what you would call them.

2 dollars, 2000 "Knowledge": sometimes have extra metal in the letters "2 DOLLARS".

2 dollars, 1999, 2000: sometimes have an off-center core.

2 dollars, 2012 (steel): areas near the edge look damaged.
