I would like some thoughts from the note experts....I own a 2004A ten dollar star note PMG graded superb gem 67EPQ.....Serial number L0327xxx*....It's from the second print run of 512000 notes.....the first print run was 128000...and the last print run was large...My reference book shows that there were stars printed in sheets...Were these sold for collectors? Were the sheets on the first print run? It shows this note at a value of 100$, retail I presume....Were all notes from this run for circulation?I'm keeping this one for Grandchildren,,so current value is not the point....Wondering about spending $$$$ on modern stars? Graded of course....What say you all......Thanks for your knowledge.......

Robert Azpiazu in his book lists the GL first run at $250 and second run at $50. If you are going to get into collecting stars you should definitely get his book (Collectors guide to modern FRN's). However wait for the updated version to include series 2009 to come out later this year. From looking at his book it seems GL*'s came out as replacement notes.

As per prices â€" Only time I have seen recent series notes get near published prices is when they are graded 68 / 69 OR IF it is a fancy sn and then it could go even higher. There are just too many variables that affect pricing and sometimes it's not known for years after the fact.

There are so many choices / ways of collecting star notes that you would have to decide what works for you.
