Hello,

Can anyone help me identify the coin in the attached pictures? The counterstamp on the obverse warped the coin badly, leading to the wear to most of the writing on the edges and obscuring the guys face.

Thank you,

Your coin is very similar to a Spanish Netherlands, Philip II of Spain,(1555-1581), 1572 1/5 Philipsdaalder.See this link to compare:-

That's great! Thank you both for the help in narrowing this down and getting me on the right track. I still haven't found an exact match but I have done more reading on Spanish/Netherlands coinage and history than I would have cared to prior to finding this coin.
