So I started stamping $1 Where's George bills with the store stamp at my convenience store last week and had wondered if anyone else was ever bored or silly enough to do something like that somewhere, then this showed up in my drawer today.

Abe-Went-Drinking.

Made it all the way to Indiana!

Also, it seems like the last digit in the serial is a little misaligned?

Defacing currency is actually punishable by law vs. manipulating coins.

defacing currency is illegal however only if there is fraudulent intent. However, this note's stamp is illegal not because it is defacing the note, but rather because it is advertising on currency, which is illegal.

I believe the fraudulent attempt ONLY applies to coins (because of the old time legislation when coins were more prominent and made of precious metals to prevent people from clipping and trimming the edges of silver and gold coins which is why they all used lettered or reeded edges to tell of they were lightened except the 20 cent piece which had a smooth edge)

Any defacing of US currency if illegal.
