Hi folks! Back from my detecting outing (going back sunday).
As promised, I gave an AT pro a run for a few days and to say I was surprised, is an understatement. Though I do still say it is a beginner machine, if your just after hitting coins, mainly copper, at a 2 to 8 inch level, if you set it up correctly its a bit of an animal.
In a group of 3, we are searching a fresh site and for this I will be using a Minelab machine for most of the duration. If you missed my earlier post, I called the AT pro 'crap' but the pictures included are the coin/buttons found in 48 hours using said machine.
Before new comers all go rushing out to buy a Garrett please remember I have researched this site very well and have been trying to gain permission for a long time on here and knew it would be full of stuff.
Also, problems still remain with the machine..... it missed a lot of stuff that the Minelab machines picked up easily. The recovery time is way too slow, and for some reason, it became very 'unstable' after a few hours use.
Anyway, here is what we found with it, enjoy!!

Interesting Nottinghamshire County Council Education Committee medal! I think they were minted in 1935 for the Silver Jubilee of George V; does anything on the reverse suggest that?

Here's an interesting first-hand account of how these medals were put out into the world. All the schoolchildren were trotted out on a nice day in 1935, and given one:

What then? It didn't represent any achievement for a given child. If you didn't find it to be a beautiful treasure, you couldn't swap it for a frog or a slingshot; all your friends just got one of the same at the same moment you did! Any wonder so many ended up in the ground?

My grandfather got a 1939 "royal trip to Canada" one when he was a kid, he had it all through the years and gave it to me a few years ago. It was one of the coins that got me interested in collecting. Unfortunately I cleaned it before I knew what I was doing. I still have it though.

Hi JB. To be fair, it did surprise me. I did find it a bit jittery, but it certainly did its job, so I retract my statement about it being naff, its quite a good little unit for the price!

From the land of the Bluenose.....the At Pro is a good machine for fields and such. I usually leave mine home and take my Freedom 3 Plus. Newer does not always mean better. Costlier does not always mean better. Operator of the machine can make or break a machine. Be one with your machine!
