Not much wear but weak details on the reverse.
One of the better years.

The year of this coin is not really readible, probably due to the quality of the pictures. However, this is a wide rim 2 centime coin of Belgium. The wide rim indicates that the year must be between 1833 and 1836. The wide rim is actually a consequence of using existing Dutch 1 cent coins as a blank during the minting process. Lots of these coins actually still show signs of the underlying Dutch cent.
When grading these pieces, it is important to look at the hair of the lion. In this case the hair is almost OK, only a center part of it is slightly worn. Therefore it does not receive the EF grading bur rather a good VF (sometimms called VF+)

Hi Jupke
Thanks for the additional information about the over-striking. But this is a one centime coin. So the year 1832 is very possible

Yep, sorry, my mistake! For the 1 centime, the Dutch 1/2 cents where used as blanks in the period of 1832 to 1835. Look very carefully to the coin if you can see any leftovers of the original coin. In that case, it would cause a premium for the coin!
The 1832 is a quite rare piece, sold at prices of 100 euro in VF, 200 euro in XF and 350 euro in UNC. A variant is reported with a dot after the year.

Hi Jupke,
Thanks for these precious information.
It looks like you are not the only one who made a mistake.
While checking the coin for leftover of the original coin, I realized I mixed up my two 1832 coins. Obverse of one reverse of the other one.
So here are the real pictures togeather.
The first one. Looks like there may be traces of the Dutch coin on the reverse and there is definately a dot behind the date:

This is the second one. Nothing special to say, not as nice as the first one:

Is there any print catalogue for Belgian coins that you could recommend?
