Any thoughts on using an ATB 5oz (bullion version for cost savings) as a pocket piece? Imagine if you are at a store or at the bank dumping from CRH and get into a conversation with the customer at the next window and whip out a 5oz ATB that looks like a regular quarter but is 10 times larger? A perfect opportunity to educate someone about numismatics and the good old days of real, I mean silver, coinage. Other than the weight problem (I carry an overstruck Peace dollar which isn't even noticeable in my pocket) and the initial buy in price what do you think?

I know I wouldn't feel comfortable carrying something around with me of that value everywhere I go, but that's just me.

Those ATB coins are larger in diameter and unless you carry a purse I have no idea how it won't bug the crap out of you in your pocket.

3" diameter pocket piece? Way too big for most people but if you're Paul Bunyan it might be cool!

@Noah At least you wouldn't have to worry about loosing it or spending it.

That's what I would be paranoid about! Losing it w/out noticing. I would probably have to walk around with my hand in my pocket for the rest of me life

You'd need a belt of the same calibre, thats for sure. Also, if a ne'er do gooder is around, they might spy a large chunk of silver worth breaking a bone in their hand for. I think its asking for trouble to carry around something so overt and valuable.
Are they legal tender for 25c? If I had the dough, id try buying a stick of gum with a couple of those.

@BenByfield
I've walked out of banks after dumping with $5K in cash in one pocket and my pocket piece in the other and worried more about losing my pocket piece than the cash.
After more insight I find it equally hard to part with $180 from my paycheck to buy a 5oz puck than to trade even up with 5oz of silver I found for a measly $5.50 face of 90% halves which in the good old days of roll hunting I could find in 2 boxes.

I guess if you bought an old pair of JUNCO jeans you could have pockets big enough for it. I dont think youd have to worry about whether or not its still there though, it slapping you with every step should give you that answer
