Way back in 2006, when this forum was less than a year old and still pretty small, I was a member on an old, now-long-defunct Australian coin forum when someone there announced that Catman, one of the founding members here, had passed away. So I came here to see what the fuss was about.

So I never knew or interacted with Catman. A pity; from what I've read of his posts, I think we'd have got along swell.

When I was researching about the rarity of 2011 magnetic cents.
(probably my first thread) 2011 magnetic cents: somewhat rare? is a seven page thread!

I stumbled upon it when researching something or other coin related(its too long back to remember the specific thing) and I liked the place so I lurked for a while and read and learned and then one day I decided I wanted to join in on the fun so I signed up.

I had joined a different coin forum at first, but after a few posts I had run into some mega egos and got my answers but it left me with the feeling like I was bothering them. So a quick google on another inquiry I had lead me here and I haven't turned back.

Google search in 2007 when I started buying gold coins and wanted more info. I was read-only lurker for about 3 months before joining. CCF has been a great place to be!

Realizing I had no Family or Friends with Numismatic interests, I turned to the Web! One day I simply Googled "online coin chat", and voila, I'm here!

I googled coin collecting. I looked at the threads, read some post and found one that a member was looking for info about a retirement medal that had a name on it. I couldn't help him with the medal but with the name, I found some info on who it was issued to. I was thinking wow I can learn for this guys and help out some. I come have a look almost everyday since.
