I had to buy this because it is from my home town where I was born and raised...

Grade and apx value opinions would be much appreciated....don't let the wrinkles fool you...the note still has a crispness to it and no pin holes or tears

series 1929...
What are these numbers about?
'10527'
'10'
'5'
'2'
'7'

"First Wayne"?
Is that the name of the National bank of Detroit?

It is called National Currency and I believe the way the numbers are is called "Type 2" style. I find this series very interesting. If I looked hard enough there could be at least 10 to 20 different notes from 1929 in Michigan alone. I know I have seen Kalamazoo, Lansing, Benton Harbor, and so on.....

Tpatna - that's an awesome note, I don't know the grade or value however I'm interested in the comment by toast. I still don't know what those numbers mean except that they call them the "charter number". I did find a site that talks about Birmingham Michigan Bank Notes which are similar but couldn't find Detroit. The site I found is as follows:

http://216.199.108.100/2476464426/2476464426.htm

I'm still wondering what the charter number represents.

I love it!
Patna, if you haven't seen Detroit lately, then you should take a look. Downtown has made a great comeback from when it bottomed out in the '80's, and they're holding the grand opening this week for the new river front promenade that extends from the Belle Isle Bridge down to Joe Louis Arena. The river front transformation is absolutely amazing! As far as the grade or value of your banknote, I have no idea. I still like it!
In answer to Toast, Detroit is the county seat of Wayne County, named after the same General Wayne that Ft. Wayne Indiana was named after.

Thanks for the update One Red Cent,

I will be going out to Michigan in a few weeks and I will have to drive over there and check it out. I love Belle Isle, so I will check it out for sure.

The best view of Detroit is from my side of the river, although someone took artistic liberty placing the moon over Detroit. Looking north to Detroit it just doesn't happen.
