Tpatna Pillar of the Community United States 1626 Posts	Posted 05/28/2007 5:59 pm It is called National Currency and I believe the way the numbers are is called "Type 2" style. I find this series very interesting. If I looked hard enough there could be at least 10 to 20 different notes from 1929 in Michigan alone. I know I have seen Kalamazoo, Lansing, Benton Harbor, and so on..... Report this Post to the Staff

I still don't know what those numbers mean except that they call them the "charter number". I did find a site that talks about Birmingham Michigan Bank Notes which are similar but couldn't find Detroit. Downtown has made a great comeback from when it bottomed out in the '80's, and they're holding the grand opening this week for the new river front promenade that extends from the Belle Isle Bridge down to Joe Louis Arena. The river front transformation is absolutely amazing! As far as the grade or value of your banknote, I have no idea. I still like it! In answer to Toast, Detroit is the county seat of Wayne County, named after the same General Wayne that Ft. Wayne Indiana was named after. Report this Post to the Staff
